The Delhi High Court has stayed all punitive action against the pharmaceuticalcompanies regarding eight drugs. The orders came after a writ petition was filed by the Bulk Drug Manufacturers Association (BDMC), which represents over 300 drug companies. It alleged that the drugs - cefadroxil, cloxacillin, theophyllin, trimethoprim, norfloxacin, salbutamol, ciprofloxacin and sulphamethazole - had been wrongly included under the Drug Price Control Order. A division bench of the High Court stated that no punitive action be taken against the members of the petitioner association based upon the inclusion of eight drugs within the ambit of price control".
