THE latest statement of the Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC) based in Goa, regarding the delay of the execution of the 760 krn Roha-Mangalore railway route due to key consructional hazards have vindicated the stand of the environnmentalists. The corporation has admitted difficulties in building nuou in Maharastra, Karnataka and GoL I submission came in response to a petition in the Bombay High Cow Panjim branch on the progress of the corporation's work. Environmentalist groups have repeatedly warned the building the line through coastal Go will not only prove expensive but all environmentally deleterious owing to it easily crumbled laterite rocks.
