Environmentalists and local entrepreneurs in Bangladesh have appreciated some of the new measures proposed in the budget for 1998-99. They have hailed the budget as "eco-friendly". The finance minister has proposed zero customs duty on less smoke-emitting double-decker buses. This move will encourage public transports and stop the growing air pollution in major cities of the country.
