NGT appoints Court Commissioner to study health of villagers affected by stone crushing units in Nagaur

Justice Raghuvendra S Rathore of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on May 15, 2019 appointed Virendra Singh as Court Commissioner to look into the health effects of air pollution caused by stone crushing units in the villages of Koliya, Naka ke Dhani, Nozalo ke Dhani and Bandolai ke Dhani in Tehsil Didwana, District Nagaur, Rajasthan. He has been directed to visit all the villages, set up medical camps and examine all the villagers.

NGT suspends CTE and CTO in the area of river Kosi and Dabka till further orders

The NGT on May 15, 2019 directed that any consent to establish (CTE) and consent to operate (CTO) if already granted to any stone crushers/screening plants in the area of river Kosi and Dabka in Bazpur, Kashipur and Ram Nagar shall remain suspended, till the High Court of Uttarakhand decides on a case related to the matter. The High Court had in its order of 27.08.2018 directed the state government to submit a report on the carrying capacity of the two rivers for the purpose of extraction of riverbed mining of minor minerals.

Non-forest activities prohibited in Mandore

Allegations of illegal mining in the forest area of village Mandore, District Jodhpur, Rajasthan came up for hearing before the NGT on May 15, 2019. The NGT had asked for original revenue record for the purpose of the demarcation of forest land, but was told by the tehsildar that they have not been able to trace the original record of relevant jamabandi and the revenue trace map.

The NGT directed the tehsildar, Mandore to approach the Registrar, Board of Revenue, Ajmer for seeking his assistance so as to know where the relevant record would be available and in the meantime as already ordered on 27.02.2019, the entire area would be treated as forest land and no mining or any kind of non-forestry activity should be done in the area, till it is demarcated, in accordance with the relevant record.

Shahpura lake constructions under NGT scanner

In a petition filed by Aakash Ingle on illegal constructions near Shahpura Lake in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, the NGT on May 14, 2019prohibited any construction in the area and directed the Senior Superintendent of Police, Bhopal to ensure that no construction whatsoever is raised and record a videography of the present condition of the site and submit it to NGT.
