STP to be upgraded at Trimbakeshwar

The National Green Tribunal on November 25, 2019 directed the Secretary, Urban Development (Local Bodies), Maharashtra to ensure that requisite measures are taken so that the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Trimbakeshwar in Nashik district works with proper capacity.

The tribunal also asked the secretary to ensure that the STP was duly connected to the sources of sewage to prevent untreated sewage being  discharged unscientifically, affecting public health and environment.

Tree cutting for road construction, Kinnaur

The NGT on November 25 directed the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Himachal Pradesh, to submit a factual and action-taken report on tree-felling during the construction of a road from Chirpurche to Fochitang-Ramni in the state's Kinnaur district.

EC violation by a housing project in Gurugram

The NGT on November 25 disposed the case involving violation of environmental clearance by M/s Magic Info Solutions Pvt Ltd and Godrej Projects Development Pvt Ltd, the proponents of a housing project at Gurugram, Haryana.

The report submitted by a Joint Committee comprising the Central Pollution Control Board and Haryana State Pollution Control Board informed the tribunal that environment compensation had been assessed for the violations found and that the compensation had also been deposited.
