The struggle against mining giants in Orissa got a shot in the arm after Mukta Jhodia, a campaigner against the Hindalco-led Utkal Alumina's bauxite mining project in Kashipur won the first Chingari Award for Women Fighting Corporate Crime. The award was instituted by Rashida Bee and Champa Devi Shukla, campaigners for justice for Bhopal Gas victims, with the us $125,000 Goldman Environmental Prize they received in 2004.
