The Delhi High Court has asked the Union government to issue a final notification on the proper utilisation of fly ash discharged by thermal power stations in the country. A division bench comprising Chief Justice S N Variava and Justice S K Mahajan rejected the government's contention that, after the lapse of the one-year period of the draft notification, the final notification could be issued without the approval of the parliamentary committee. The court said that Parliament has only issued guidelines, but a law was yet to be passed in this regard.
