the Organ Retrieval and Banking Organisation ( orbo ), the first of its kind in India, has been launched at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences ( aiims ). A 24-hour emergency national facility, the organisation will function under the Cardio-Thoracic Centre of the aiims . It will encourage distribution of the donated organs among all other advanced centres in the metropolitan centres, says a doctor.
The organisation will set a platform to bring the prospective donors and recipients together. The Euro transplant programme based in Leiden, Netherlands has offered to collaborate with the institute for its transplant programme.
