In a spot

'Buy Nothing Day' was observed on November 23 in the us and November 24 in the rest of the world.

Adbusters, the website that runs the anti-consumerist, pro-environment campaign, approached mtv for a commercial spot like it's been doing in the past few years--with the same result. For this icon of youth culture, the message was a step too far in the right direction.

mtv' s Elisa J. Billis explained that the spot went further than they were "willing to accept" on their channels. In response, Kalle Lasn, Adbusters co-founder, said: "mtv is acting irresponsibly. Any good corporate citizen should recognize that messages like the one in our commercial are gravely needed."
