Notices on farm acquisition: The Karnataka High Court has issued notices to the Centre and the Konkan Rail Corporation Limited, among others, on a petition challenging land acquisition. Residents of Nandikur and Yellur villages in Udupi district contended in their petition that the land acquired for the construction of a railway line and yard for transportation of coal to Padubidri Thermal Power Plant is prime agricultural land. Udupi Power Corporation is constructing two 500 MW thermal power generating units at Padubidri.
