labour welfare ignored: The Supreme Court has issued notices to the Centre and state governments of Haryana and Delhi on a public interest petition seeking welfare measures for mine and construction workers. The petition filed by non-profit People's Rights and Social Research Centre (PRASAR) said, people suffering from silicosis in mine and construction sites are not getting medical help. The court also directed the ministry of labour and the central pollution control board be made parties to the petition. The National Human Rights Commission has appealed to the court to be impleaded as a co-petitioner, so that it may present its data on silicosis.
