Invest in green future

New research sponsored by the United Nations Environment Programme has said investing money on restoration and maintenance of the Earths ecosystems can be key to countering climate change. The Climate Issues Update, released in India on October 13, was prepared under The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB), a project launched by Germany and the European Commission.

The report said the planets biodiversity is increasingly at risk due to green house gas emissions. It said forests should be made the mitigation engine to counter climate change and urged climate change negotiators to reward developing countries that have large forest tracts so that they are conserved and managed in a sustainable way.
