Radio Lakshadweep
Three islands in Lakshwadeep will be connected by ham radio for the first time on January 15, 2007. Ham radio operators will set up a base in Magatti, Bangaram and Kadmat islands as part of a ten-day international ham fest. After a year of intense lobbying, the National Institute of Amateur Radio, Hyderabad, has succeeded in getting permission from the Union ministry of communications and information technology to operate hams from Lakshadweep.
