Leh focuses

Leh will be hosting the '3rd CMS Vatavaran 2008--Environment and Wildlife Travelling Film Festival' for the first time, between September 11 and 13. Organized by the Leh CMS (Centre for Media Studies) Vatavaran in association with WWF-India, the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council and the department of wildlife protection, government of Jammu and Kashmir, the festival will showcase the best of Indian and international wildlife films and a host of other events.

There will also be a seminar on Conservation of High Altitude Wetlands and a panel discussion by children on 'Environmental Concerns of Ladakh'. The wetlands of Leh are a repository of nature and ancient culture and this festival, as an educational forum, will highlight their significance. The 5 month free-for-all festival from September to January, 2008-2009 will travel to the cities of Agartala, Bhopal, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Pune and Ranchi from Leh and will explore issues of regional and local concern, acting as a tool to bring about changes in legislation, policies and people's attitude.
