Industries, which were asked to shift out from Delhi, have been directed by the Supreme Court to create green pockets on the land they are going to vacate. The companies will be allowed to retain a portion of the land vacated by them but the rest will be used for creating lungs for the city. In a recent ruling, the apex court had asked 1,219 highly polluting industrial units to shift from the city. Four major industrial groups, Birla Textiles, DCM Silk Mills, Shriram Industrial Enterprises and Swatantra Bharat Mills have pleaded for more time to shift and have guaranteed to retain their employees and to provide shifting expenses and houses for them.
