Datasonix has introduced a mobile,
tape storage product for laptops
which offers a host of new features.
The product, called Pereos, which
uses technology Aeveloped by Sony
for its digital tape recorder, is the
size of a coffee cup and can store UP
to 1.25 gigabytes of data (roughly
equivalent to 870 floppies) on
postage stamp size cartridges
(Banking Technology, April 1995).
Pereos has a password protection system and a feature called Fuzzy Find, Making use of fuzzy logic techniques, this allows a user who is unable to remember the exact name of a file, to enter any of the letters in the file-name the user can remember to assemble a fist of files from which the user can choose.
