Comic>> Violence Against Women • France
En chemin elle rencontre (On the way, she met), a collection of comic strip stories tackling the issue of violence against women edited by Marie Moinard, director of the small publishing company Des ronds dans l’O, was officially launched with Amnesty International France on International Women’s Day.
Its title is drawn from a French children’s song that tells the story of a girl.
Four boys touch different parts of her body, with the song implying that the girl enjoys the violation. “This is a song that children sang at holiday camps,” says Muriel de Gaudemont, a spokeswoman for Amnesty International France. This mentality is what the book hopes to transform, she told news agency IPS.
