>> Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN),
the regulatory body that oversees Internet domain names, has voted to revamp the domain naming system for websites, allowing them to end with words like “apple” and “orange” instead of suffixes such as “.com” or “.gov”.
ICANN said it will accept applications for domains with new suffixes from January 12 next year.
>> Google Inc will finance US $280 million of residential solar power systems in the US through a deal with startup SolarCity that is the Internet search giant’s largest single clean energy investment to date. The fund will enable thousands of homeowners who do not want to make a large upfront investment in a solar system to have solar panels installed on their roofs.
