About 70 residents of Alice Springs, Australia met on September 1, 2005 and voted to keep their community radio station 8 CCC on the air. The station operates out of Charles Darwin University, which has clashed with station management over content. The university wants the station's programme to have a pan-Australian content, while the residents wants the station to continue its focus on local issues, including agriculture.

Heads of various Christian churches in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad have come together under the banner of a non-governmental organisation, Asha Kiran, to respond to the HIV/AIDS crisis in Andhra Pradesh. The network would impart training to pastors, priests, seminarians, theology students, nuns and women leaders on the disease.
