>> it giant, Advanced Micro Devices Inc, has announced a competition on designing sustainable computer labs for use in developing countries. The 'Open Architecture Prize' offers a US $250,000 prize. It calls for designs "that can be adapted to local needs and built in communities around the world".
>> A Greenpeace report published in Delhi says some laptops contain hazardous substances, including lead, pvc, bromine and phthalates. The findings came from an investigation on hcl laptops, at the Greenpeace Research Laboratory and other laboratories in Denmark. Greenpeace protested at hcl office in Noida. hcl says it will soon introduce a toxics phase-out policy.
