Femlink Pacific, a women's non-government organisation in Fiji launched its first mobile women's community radio project in the second week of January this year. Called "Radio in a Suitcase", the project aims to increase the capacity of women, especially those from rural or poorer communities, to communicate openly on matters related to health and livelihoods.
The darling of popular consumer culture, Apple Computer Corporation, has become the target of an aggressive environmental coalition in the US. Called the Computer Takeback Campaign, the coalition plans a year-long movement to protest Apple's lacklustre recycling efforts and mountains of e-waste. The advocacy group plans protests at Apple's Californian headquarters throughout 2005, as well as a fierce letter-writing and e-mail campaign.
