The uk chapter of the OneWorld Network has launched an interactive website on climate change. Designed as an online platform, the portal allows people to create their own space on web and interact on climate change issues. Users can post pictures, videos, reports and podcasts. "It's our voices that alone can energise the movement for a fair and sustainable world" says the web.
"Here, the content is produced by citizens themselves, and they can create communities of interests," says Anuradha Vittachi, director, OneWorld uk. The interactive interface helps organisations track their carbon footprint and share experiences. The website was announced in September 2006 and is evolving. "We made it public early in its production process so that users could help shape its creation," she says.
According to Vittachi, the web promotes a 'multi-stakeholder engagement' approach on issues relating to climate change."We want to enable citizens to use these tools to help halt climate change" she says. The website offers a space where emerging ideas from people anywhere on globe are being mapped and made available for public debate. People can also contribute responses to the crisis of climate change.
