The Oceania newsreal, a news and documentary project launched by the international coalition of independent media people, Indymedia.org, is now available online. The site aims to "Be a space to facilitate the networking of solidarity between communities engaged in struggles for social, environmental and economic justice". News stories and films, focusing on social and environmental issues of the Asia-Pacific area, can be downloaded for free. An eclectic medley of films and themes are showcased. For example, Beyond the Factory Walls is a digital video production and multimedia theatre collaboration between an Australian community television group from Sydney and a Jakarta- based Factory Workers' theatre company. Another film , Tasmanian Forests focuses on the divisions in Tasmanias aboriginal communities which have sprung up as old forests are logged for woodchips.
The news real encourages content and skills sharing between independent media centres, video collectives and community television video producers.
