The Delhi high court has issued a showcause notice to six major hospitals of the city because of their inability to maintain their incinerators, which has lead to improper and unsafe disposal of medical wastes. The notices were issued after the bench went through a report of the Central Pollution Control Board. The hospitals that received the showcause notice include four government hospitals: Ram Manohar Lohia, Safdarjung, Kalawati Saran and Sucheta Kriplani. The other two, Moolchand and Batra, are private hospitals. The hospital authorities have been directed to file replies.
