Five mega projects along the western coast of the country have failed the 'green' test. A committee of the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (neeri), Nagpur, constituted on the Supreme Court's (sc) directions, has found the multi-crore Cogentrix thermal power project in Karnataka and four other projects in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Kerala to be environmentally unsustainable
