six people in the us and one in Brazil have died reportedly due to the consumption of viagra, the supposedly potent drug to combat impotency. This has led to debates at several fora about the safety aspects of using the drug. Vietnam has banned it until the doubts of its safety are cleared.

The Food and Drug Administration is still investigating the death of the six people in the us and apparently has not come to a concrete conclusion whether the deaths were caused by the use of viagra alone or was taken with a combination. Pfizer, the manufacturer of the drug, has issued a warning against the inappropriate use of the drug.

Reports suggest that viagra users also suffer from headaches and visionary problems. Cipla, the drug manufacturing company, is expected to launch its own version of viagra in India. Officials at Cipla say that the drug does not have a long-term effect.

The government is yet to give a green signal to the launch of viagra in India. According to P Dasgupta, drug controller general-India, so far his department has not taken any decision in this regard.
