Thanks to poaching and a series of natural calamities in Nepal, the endangered Arna, or the wild buffalo, is on the verge of extinction. Experts say Koshi Tappu, Arna's only sanctuary, will be a thing of the past unless steps are taken to check unscrupulous traders and flood control measures are introduced. Most worrying is the non-availability of areas suitable for trans-location to save the animal.
