• The manufacturing, importing and use of plastic bags that are 30 and 65 micron thick have been banned in Tanzania.
• The Danube river rose to it highest level in decades forcing people to flee their homes in Serbia and Romania. It also swamped cities in Bulgaria, where a state of emergency was declared in the river-threatened areas.
