Italy has been given a final warning by the European Commission for not implementing two rulings of the European Court of Justice on waste landfills.

The Malaysian state of Terengganu recently banned the use of swim-fins by snorkellers in all marine parks claiming it damaged corals at these sites.

Singapore has acceded to the Kyoto Protocol. The city-state agreed to adhere to the protocol in New York on April 12.

The manufacturing, importing and use of plastic bags that are 30 and 65 micron thick have been banned in Tanzania.

The Danube river rose to it highest level in decades forcing people to flee their homes in Serbia and Romania. It also swamped cities in Bulgaria, where a state of emergency was declared in the river-threatened areas.
