according to a study conducted by the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, many cities in Rajasthan including the state capital, Jaipur are facing severe noise pollution. Even the 'silence zones' like hospitals and universities, show a 'very dismal picture'. The scientific study was carried out in Jaipur, Alwar, Jodhpur, Kota and Pali. The report said, "There appears to be either a basic lack in infrastructure facilities or the controlling authorities are not paying heed."
The report added that an integrated planning was required to look into the high levels of noise. The study pointed out that the residential areas of Jaipur and Jodhpur need attention, since noise levels in these cities exceed the limits even at night.
