ANTHRAX ALERT: The Bangladesh government recently announced an alert for anthrax, a livestock disease. Anthrax has spread among people because of slaughtering of diseased cows and sale of their meat.

Since late August, 585 people have contracted the disease, the biggest outbreak of Anthrax in the country. Initial cases were reported in northern Sirajganj district. About 500,000 vaccines for cattle have been distributed in affected areas.
