DHAKA’S FLOOD-PROOF POLICY: Bangladesh has introduced a policy to protect its capital city Dhaka from recurring inundation during floods and high tides. The policy bans construction work in low-lying farmland adjacent to rivers that absorb extra water during floods and high tides. The policy received flak from real estate firms who have invested millions of dollars in these areas.
