Textile units to give power: As Pakistan battles chronic power shortage, Lahore's electricity supply company (LESCO) has decided to buy 120 MW power from the city's textile units. Several textile mills have established their own power units over the years, but are not consuming all the electricity generated. Under government as well as public pressure to explore means to reduce load shedding, LESCO has decided to buy surplus power from these units. Lahore has a power shortfall of 800 MW and people are facing long hours of outages every day.
