The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started an investigation into the US $249,916 Baley Gond hydel power plant scam in Ghanche district of Baltistan in Pakistan. Officials are in the process of collecting data about the failure of the 1.5 megawatt project. Okayed in 1988 and originally scheduled to be built at Baley Gond, work on the plant was undertaken on another site where it was not technically feasible. The project remains incomplete even after 14 years with a lot of money having gone down the drain.
