Wall II

To many, the massive concrete barrier separating Israel from Palestine is as reviled as the Berlin wall. It could turn out to be the world's longest graffiti space. Over the Internet, a group of Palestinian graffiti artists is offering to spray-paint your personal message on this eight-metre wall in the occupied West Bank.

It costs 30 (about US $50) per message and they can be as solemn or whacky as you want. Everything goes, except for obscene, offensive or hate speech. Clients get three digital pictures of the finished product.

The taggers at www.sendamessage.nl are members of the Palestinian Peace and Freedom Youth Forum, which set up the scheme in collaboration with a Dutch Christian organisation. "It is a new way to announce the existence of Palestinians , graffiti artist Yusef Njm said. "We are not only throwing stones and clashing. "Organisers stress that revenue does not go to buy weapons. It is intended to support grassroots social and cultural projects in the West Bank.
