This weekend, Pakistan's opposition leaders met in Lahore. Among other issues, water was also discussed. Revealing this at a press conference, leader of the Sindh assembly Nisar Khuhro claimed that opposition leaders were of the opinion the government should not go ahead with two projects -- the Kalabagh dam and the Greater Thal canal. He suggested the Gwadar port project had become controversial because it failed to address local concerns, and that the north west frontier province was concerned over royalty related to the Tarbela dam. Such issues were being raked up by the Musharraf regime, he alleged, to divide the nation.
