Coronavirus update: World adds record new cases

Global COVID-19 tally jumped by 189,077 in 24 hours — the most until date

Several countries recorded their highest additions of cases positive to the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in a 24-hour period, the World Health Organization reported June 28, 2020. 

  • The world added a record 189,077 cases to the tally of patients of the ensuing COVID-19 disease. 
  • Private aggreghator Worldometers.info put the total number of positive cases at 10,272,088.
  • Among them, 4,193,674 were active cases.
  • The proportion of serious / critical patients, however, has halved to 1 per cent of them. 
  • The global death toll was at 504,957.
