
Strong dust raising winds (25-35 kilometres per hour) are very likely over western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on May 16 and 17 and West Rajasthan during May 16-18, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its daily bulletin.
A gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C is likely over northwest India during the next two days, the IMD added.
In the Northeast, fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall, accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at speeds of 30-50 kmph is likely during the next five days.
“Isolated heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during 16th-18th, Assam & Meghalaya during 16th-19th with isolated very heavy rainfall over Assam & Meghalaya during 16th-17th and Arunachal Pradesh on 16th May,” according to the IMD.
In the west, isolated light/moderate rainfall, accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at speeds of 30-50 kmph is likely over Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada during May 16-18.
In the south, isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu during May 16-17; interior Karnataka during May 16-19; coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema on May 16 and Kerala and Mahe on May 18 and 19.
In eastern and central India, isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during May 16-19.
There will be a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C over Madhya Pradesh for the next three days and a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-4°C over Gujarat for the next two days.
“Conditions are favorable for further advance of southwest Monsoon over some more parts of south Arabian Sea, Maldives & Comorin area; South Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Andaman Islands and Andaman Sea; and some parts of central Bay of Bengal during next 2-3 days,” the IMD noted.
