Conserving petrol

the government has chalked out a plan for saving petrol worth Rs 10,000 crores per year by giving a boost to the ethanol industry. In this regard, the ministry of non-conventional energy has prepared a paper that would be placed before the new cabinet for approval.

According to S S Boparai, the existing petrol car engines can run on a mixture of petrol and ethanol that is available in large quantities within the country. It has been found that the cars function efficiently and that ethanol does not wear out the engine faster than petrol, he says.
