Come summer andthe squabbling for water betweenDelhi and Haryana begins. Haryanawas pulled up by the SupremeCourt of India on February 24, forits failure to stop the leakage ofhighly polluted effluents in riverYamuna through drain no eightoriginating in Haryana. Water supply to Delhi had to be cut off dueto the presence of pollutants.Apparently, the Haryana government is least concerned about thecourt directives. The court had earlier directed the state governmentto file a progress report on the setting up of an effluent treatmentplant at drain no eight.
