Cars India
PETE Seeger to sell cars. The us songwriter and singer wouldn't ever really have imagined that calling--not ever in his wildest dreams. But car maker Maruti has made the quantum jump. And quite tastefully at that. Its ad for the new Estillo brand of cars uses the Malvina Reylonds song that Seeger made famous Little Boxes. The original song alluded to how the middle classes--mainly in suburban usa, but they could be anywhere--were boxed in by a similarity of aspirations.
The Maruti ad too revolts against sameness. But in the ad as engineers, doctors, executives go about their lives with monotony, the Estillo cruises in.
Who says we live in an era of cardboard capitalism?
