the government has decided to put an end to the use of harmful chemicals being used to suppress dust pollution in coal mining area. This was stated by Union minister of state for environment and forests Babu Lal Marandi at a meeting of senior officials of Coal Indian Limited and the Central Pollution Control Board recently.
Marandi said that the ministry would soon come out with guidelines on environmental safeguards including regulation of dust-suppressing chemicals. The new rules would make it mandatory for coal companies to seek the permission of state pollution control boards for use of the chemicals.
