A public interest petition was filed in the Bangalore high court which sought directions to implement pollution control measures in the city. The court directed the government to file objections on the petition. A two-member bench had earlier issued notices to the chief secretary, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, and others on the petition filed by B Krishna Bhat of Bangalore. Bhat had sought cancellation of licences issued to eateries which throw away garbage on the streets and a direction to cancel the permits of polluting vehicles.
