Weather India
Weather information from about 200 locations and five-day forecasts for almost 20 cities spread over the country will now be available online.
This follows the creation of a portal to raise awareness about weather and publicise storm warnings. Its content will be sourced from two bodies -- the India Meteorological Department and the National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting -- under the department of science and technology.
The portal will also provide general and zone-wise weather bulletins with an exclusive page for severe weather events. Weekly agro-advisories will be provided for different agro-climatic zones.
Among its other features is a page devoted to common questions about weather and allied areas. A panel of experts will provide feedback on questions asked by visitors to the website. The portal will be augmented with exclusive chat room sessions (discussion forums) with experts on chosen topics of wide interest.
