UFOs are real, says the Pentagon
Older, leaked clips of unidentified flying objects now confirmed by US defence department
The United States defence department released three unclassified videos, taken by its Navy personnel, showing some aerial phenomena resembling flying objects.
The department has never earlier acknowledged the existence of any such phenomenon.
The first of the videos was shot by US Navy pilots in November 2004 and leaked in 2005. The second and third were shot in January 2015 and leaked in 2017.
The department said it wanted to clear any public misconception about the reality of the videos:
After a thorough review, the department has determined that the authorised release of these unclassified videos does not reveal any sensitive capabilities or systems, and does not impinge on any subsequent investigations of military air space incursions by unidentified aerial phenomena... is releasing the videos in order to clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, or whether or not there is more to the videos. The aerial phenomena observed in the videos remain characterized as ‘unidentified’
The pilots involved described the movement of the aircrafts as ‘inexplicable’.
International news agency Reuters in December 2017 had questioned whether the US defense establishment “still have a UFO program?” Pentagon, at that time, admitted of running a secret investigation into unidentified flying objects — objects of fantasy for several, pop culture as well as scientific curiosity along with the question: Does alien life, especially intelligent ones, exist.
Pentagon then said its UFO programmed was shut down in 2012. But the Reuters report claimed the programme was on.
UFO sightings have been reported from time to time at various locations across the globe, but none with conclusive evidence.
