
There will be extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over Meghalaya on May 13, 2025, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said in its daily bulletin.
Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall, accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at speeds reaching 30-40 kilometres per hour (kmph) and gusting to 50 kmph is likely over the Northeast during the next 5 days.
Heat wave conditions are very likely in parts of northwestern, eastern, central and southern India including isolated pockets of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Bihar during May 12-14; Gangetic West Bengal during May 12-15; Jharkhand on May 13 and 14; north coastal Odisha during May 13-15; western Uttar Pradesh during May 15-17; east Uttar Pradesh during May 14-17 and western Rajasthan on May 17.
In the west, isolated light/moderate rainfall, accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at speeds reaching 40-50 kmph and gusting to 60 kmph is likely over Madhya Maharashtra during May 12-15; with winds speed reaching 30-40 kmph and gusting to 50 kmph over Konkan & Goa on May 13; Marathawada during May 12-13 and Gujarat on May 12.
In eastern and central India, isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall, accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at speeds reaching 40-50 kmph and gusting to 60 kmph is likely over western Madhya Pradesh during May 12-13; Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Sikkim during May 12-15, Bihar and Jharkhand on May 15; and with winds speed reaching 30-40 kmph and gusting to 50 kmph over eastern Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Jharkhand during May 12-13 and over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during May 13-15.
“Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Nicobar on 13th & 14th; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during 12th-15th with isolated very heavy rainfall on Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on 12th May,” the bulletin said.
In the south, isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during May 13-15; Rayalaseema during May 14-16 and during May 13-15.
