
Extremely heavy rainfall will occur at isolated places over Meghalaya on May 14, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its daily bulletin.
Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall, accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at speeds of 30-50 kilometres per hour (kmph) will occur over the Northeast during the next four days.
Isolated heavy rainfall will occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during May 14-17, with isolated very heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh on May 14 and Assam and Meghalaya during May 14-17.
In the west, isolated light/moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at speeds reaching 30-50 kmph is likely over Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada during May 14-17 and Gujarat on May 14.
Thundersquall at wind speeds reaching 50-60 kmph and gusting to 70 kmph is likely over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada on May 14.
In the northwest, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at speeds reaching 30-50 kmph is likely over eastern Rajasthan on May 14 and Uttarakhand during May 16-19.
In eastern and central India, isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall, accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at speeds reaching 30-50 kmph is likely over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Sikkim and Bihar during May 14-17; Jharkhand during May 15-17 and Odisha during May 14-15.
“Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during 14th-16th; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during 14th-17th May,” the IMD said.
In the south, scattered to fairly light/moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at speeds reaching 30-50 kmph will occur over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during May 14-17 and over Kerala and Mahe on May 14.
“Hailstorm also likely at isolated places over Telangana on 14th & 15th May,” said the IMD statement.
