From the hilly areas of North India to the plains, the temperature is constantly increasing, due to which heat is at its peak. However, due to a weak western disturbance, the weather of the plains may change today. There are chances of bright sunshine in the morning and thunderstorms by the end of day.

On April 27, 2025, the weather suddenly changed in Dehradun in the evening. A dust storm was recorded in the city and rural areas, due to which the movement of people was affected.

Meanwhile, the weather in the national capital Delhi and the adjoining National Capital Region may change this week. Due to western disturbance and cyclonic circulation, light rain may provide some relief from the heat. The forecast released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on April 28, 2025, states that there may be light rain with thunderstorms in Delhi during the next three days. Today, the maximum temperature is forecast to be 41 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is 26 degrees Celsius.

On one hand, cyclonic circulations continue in various parts of the country. There is an ongoing cyclonic circulation in south-west Rajasthan and adjoining areas, along with the western disturbance. Due to these weather activities, light to moderate rains and thunderstorms are expected to continue in Northeast India during the next five days, along with stormy winds blowing up to 60 kilometres per hour (kmph).

During April 28 and 29, 2025, Assam and Meghalaya are forecast to receive showers accompanied by gusty winds with speeds up to 70 kmph.

The IMD has forecast that there is a possibility of heavy rains in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh April 28, 2025. There may be rainfall of 115 millimetres (mm) or more.

Today, rain and thunderstorms accompanied with gusty winds with speeds reaching up to 60 kmph have been predicted in isolated parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

On April 28, 2025, isolated parts of northern interior Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and southern interior Karnataka are expected to receive showers accompanied by stormy winds blowing at a speed of 50 kmph. At the same time, heavy rains have also been predicted in some parts of Kerala and Mahe during April 28 to 30, where clouds may rain 115 mm or more.

According to the latest update from the IMD, hailstorms are expected in different parts of Odisha and Chhattisgarh today.

Temperature fluctuations

According to the temperature forecast issued by the IMD, the maximum temperature in Northwest India is expected to gradually increase by two to three degrees Celsius during the next four days and fall by two to four degrees Celsius in the next three days. At the same time, the maximum temperature in Central India may increase by two degrees Celsius during the next two days and increase by two to three degrees Celsius in the next three days.

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in eastern India is likely to fall by three to five degrees Celsius during the next three days and there is no possibility of any major change in the next four days. The maximum temperature in Maharashtra is likely to increase by two to three degrees Celsius during the next five days.

At the same time, there is no major change in the maximum temperature in Gujarat during the next 24 hours and it may increase by two to three degrees Celsius in the next four days. There is a possibility of no major change in the maximum temperature in the southern peninsula of India during the next two days and it may decrease by two to three degrees Celsius in the next three days.

With regards to the maximum and minimum temperatures across the country, the maximum temperature on April 27, 2025, was recorded at 46.1 degrees Celsius in Barmer, West Rajasthan. At the same time, the minimum temperature in the plains of the country yesterday was 17.1 degrees Celsius in Adampur, Punjab. 

Where will hot and humid weather and heatwaves prevail?

According to IMD, heatwave is expected today in different parts of Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Western Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Western Madhya Pradesh.

At the same time, hot and humid weather has been predicted on April 28, 2025, in different parts of Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, coastal Karnataka and Kerala.

Where did it rain and where were there thunderstorm yesterday?

On April 27, isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh and parts of Kerala and Mahe, East Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal witnessed rain or thundershowers. Sangli in Madhya Maharashtra recorded 1 cm of rain.
