
Hot & humid weather likely to prevail over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on May 3, 2025, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its daily bulletin.
In south peninsular India, isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and strong winds at speed reaching 30-40 kilometres per hour and gusting to 50 kmph is likely over Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next seven days.
Isolated hailstorms are very likely over north Interior Karnataka on May 5 and 6 and over south Interior Karnataka on May 6 and 7.
Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over south Interior Karnataka on May 3; Kerala and Mahe on May 3, 6 and 7 and Tamil Nadu on May 5 and 6.
In the northwest, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at speeds reaching 40-60 kmph is likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh. Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over Rajasthan during May 3-9.
Isolated hailstorms are very likely over Himachal Pradesh on May 3 and 4 and Uttarakhand during May 3-6.
Thundersquall (at speeds reaching 50-60 kmph and gusting to 70 kmph) is very likely at isolated places over Uttarakhand during May 3-6; Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh on May 4 and 50 and eastern Uttar Pradesh on May 5.
Dust storms are very likely at isolated places over western Rajasthan during May 3-5 and eastern Rajasthan on May 3 and 4. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over southwest Rajasthan on May 6 and 7.
In eastern and central India, scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at speeds reaching 40-50 kmph and gusting to 60 kmph is likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim till May 4; Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh till May 6.
Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at speeds reaching 30-40 kmph and gusting to 50 kmph is likely over Northeast India during the next seven days.
In the west, isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and strong winds at speeds reaching 30-40 kmph and gusting to 50 kmph is likely over Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada during May 3-8.
