
Warm night conditions are likely to prevail at isolated locations over eastern Uttar Pradesh on May 13, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its daily bulletin.
Heat wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Gangetic West Bengal during May 13-15; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal on May 14 and 15; Jharkhand during May 13-15; western Uttar Pradesh and western Rajasthan during May 15-18 and eastern Uttar Pradesh during May 14-18.
“Hot & humid weather is likely to prevail over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Tamil Nadu Puducherry & Karaikal on 13th; Odisha during 13th-15th; Bihar during 13th-16th May,” the statement noted.
Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall was recorded over the Nicobar Islands during past 24 hours. Rainfall activity over Nicobar Islands is very likely to continue with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall during next 24 hours.
“With expected continuance of rainfall activity over these areas, conditions are favourable for advance of southwest monsoon into some parts of Andaman Sea, South Bay of Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands by today, the 13th May, 2025,” the IMD said.
“Conditions are also becoming favorable for further advance over some parts of south Arabian Sea, Maldives & Comorin area; some more parts of South Bay of Bengal, entire Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Andaman Sea; and some parts of central Bay of Bengal during subsequent 3-4 days,” it added.
In the Northeast, extremely heavy rainfall will occur at isolated places over Meghalaya on May 13.
Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds at speeds reaching 40-50 kilometres per hour (kmph) and gusting to 60 kmph is likely over the Northeast during the next four days with gusty winds speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph likely over Assam & Meghalaya on May 13.
In the south, isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during May 14-16; Kerala and Mahe on May 13 and 14; coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on May 14 and 15; Rayalaseema during May 13-16; coastal Karnataka on May 14; North Interior Karnataka on May 13 and 14 and South Interior Karnataka during May 13-16.
