Warm night conditions will be very likely in isolated pockets of eastern Madhya Pradesh on May 15, the India Meteorological Department said in its daily bulletin.

Heat wave conditions are also very likely in isolated pockets of western Uttar Pradesh during May 15-18; eastern Uttar Pradesh, western Rajasthan during May 15-17. Meanwhile, hot and humid weather is likely to prevail over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on May 15; Bihar during May 16-18 and Odisha during May 15-16.

In the northwest, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at speeds reaching 30-50 kilometres per hour (kmph) is likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh during May 18-20 and with lightning over Punjab, Haryana on May 16, Uttarakhand on May 15 and 16; eastern Rajasthan on May 17 and 18.

In eastern and central India, isolated heavy rainfall is likely over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on May 15; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during May 15-17.

In the west, isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Madhya Maharashtra on May 15.

In the south, isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during May 15-16; North Interior Karnataka during May 15-18; South Interior Karnataka on May 15 and 18; Rayalaseema on May 16 and 18; Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on May 15 and Kerala and Mahe during May 18-20.

“Conditions are favorable for further advance of southwest Monsoon over some parts of south Arabian Sea, Maldives & Comorin area; some more parts of South Bay of Bengal, entire Andaman & Nicobar Islands, remaining parts of Andaman Sea; and some parts of central Bay of Bengal during next 2-3 days,” the IMD said.
